Never one to shy away from a change of moniker, Beato/Greg Beato/Gregory Beato/GREG BEH-AH-TO now has a new label to go with a new name. After outings for L.I.E.S. and Apron, this first release on his own Ni Un Pero Records brings together a near-dozen new bits under the banner of (deep breath) El Tipo Mas Bonito En La Generacion De Los Feos. Bar a couple of excursions into synthscaping, most of the tracks here are the sort of fuzzy house and techno that crops up on L.I.E.S and Lone’s Magicwire imprint. What makes Beato’s productions worth hearing are his adventurous and zany compositional choices, for instance the seasick synth of ‘Fake 80’s’ and the needling lead on ‘KLK’.
