Brothers Tessela and Truss use their Overmono project to make hypnagogic rave tracks of a similar sort to Special Request’s rose-tinted fare, though they draw on a bigger range of sounds than the largely junglist SR tracks. The third EP in their Arla series sees them making some of their most evocative work yet. Opener ‘Inulin’, for instance, combines muted breakbeats with some gorgeously wistful keys. The remaining numbers of III play like someone exhaling, with the tempos slowing down and drums falling away as the tracklist wears on. We end up at the weightless, almost Eno-esque dawn chorus of ‘Harp Open’.
