Matthew Dear expands his repertoire both as a songwriter and producer with this fine crossbreeding of moody songwriting, that at times reminds of classic 80's electro-pop pioneers such as Joy Division, Human League and early Depeche Mode, but contrasting with some seriously forward thinking production. His voice is at the centre here, more so than previous LP's and he finally fulfills his potential of mixing minimal techno's innovations with the shiny possibilities of the song craft of good pop music, to make a great album.
