Tri Angle follow up the free-download drop of Hanz’s 2015 LP Reducer with the producer’s first purchasable collection. Admirers of other acts from the groundbreaking label - Forest Swords, FIS and Rabit to name but three - will find plenty to sink their teeth into on Plasty I. Hanz doesn’t so much deconstruct club music as zoom in on it until the different parts become unrecognisable. The ghosts of hip-hop, juke, footwork and jungle all haunt Plasty I, but Hanz creates a unique feeling of suspension that gives his music a perversely enthralling quality. For instance, ‘King Speed’ and ‘Root Words’ sound like RZA beats that have been pickled, jarred and put on display in a natural history museum.
