Samrai and Platt, the head honchos Manchester’s hotter-than-hot Swing Ting label, draw on a cornucopia of styles for their latest record. There is the usual high-grade neo-dancehall with ‘Free Up Your Mind’ and ‘Turn It Up’ and a sweet, snapping take on ‘One Dance’-style r ‘n bashment in the form of ‘Can’t Wait’. Elsewhere ‘Addiction’ plays like a more club-ready version of the King Krule/Mount Kimbie collab ‘You Took Your Time’, and the Swing Ting allstars closer ‘Contagious’ could have been written by The-Dream during his all-conquering Love Vs. Money phase.
