A revitalised NovaMute come out all guns blazing here. French club legend Terence Fixmer brings more of his famed TBM (techno body music) style on this no-frills, single-track pressing. ‘Dance of the Comets’ grabs the listener by the throat from the get-go, rocketing out of the traps with a whirligig synth-and-kick groove. The ideas introduced here provides much of what the rest of the track is built on, though Fixmer’s control and finesse mean the material is turned over to ever-more heady effect. Recalling the likes of Fuck Buttons, Aphex Twin and much of the music on Fixmer’s frequent home of Ostgut Ton, ‘Dance of the Comets’ delivers on the TBM promise in a way only Fixmer can.
