Luke Owen’s Death Is Not The End label follow on from a slew of pastoral guitar works with another ethnomusicology focused venture. If you were wise to their reissue of the Mazatec Indians Mushroom Ceremony then you’ll love this one too. Owen transports us back to 1950’s Chile with early works from the visual artist and folklorist Violeta Parra, the original author behind the famous Joan Baez ballad ‘Gracias a la Vida’. These are raw and full of emotion, brimming with the sort of naivety that manages to transcend temporal reality and leaves you feeling slightly more comfortable with the world around you.
