Superb space age cosmonaut jazz freak outs from the legendary Salah Ragab and co. Originally assembled by the Art Yard team back in 2006 and just repressed. Arguably the pioneer of Egyptian jazz and certainly one of the most original drummers we’ve heard, Ragab worked with Sun Ra and recorded for the Sono Cairo imprint throughout the 70s. ‘Oriental Mood’ and ‘Mervat’ are transporting us right into some smokey cafe in back alley Cairo as we type! Recommended for fans of Omar Khorshid / Ziad Rahbani / Les Abranis.
