Joe’s back! An artist who works at their own pace, this latest two-track is the newest material from the secretive producer since a 2015 release on Kieran Hebden’s Text as well as being the first Joe bit on Hessle in four years. That said, these two weirdo-club wedges make it feel like Joe’s never been away. ‘Tail Lift’ has more than a whiff of Arthur Russell’s ‘Let’s Go Swimming’ to it. If the scattergun Latin-house rhythm doesn’t win you over, then the perversely catchy anti-melody will. ‘MPH’ is even odder - while the stuttering chords have one thinking of Detroit, the shifting rhythmic sands give the thing more of a Brainfeeder feel.
