Letherette’s recently-minted Wulf imprint has largely served as a new home for their old wares. Brown Lounge, Volume 1 is no exception, and it joins other joints from the Wolverhampton duo’s Brown Lounge series as well as several of their early EPs in being given the re-release treatment via Wulf. As with the other Brown Lounge offerings, Volume 1 is largely comprised of beats and loop experiments, the bulk of which were crafted between 2006 and 2008. When gathered together, what we end up with is something like J Dilla’s Donuts if it was reimagined by the artists of Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood label.
