Bleep

Following a debut release by KiNK, the second drop from DGTL is a tight two-track affair from Fort Romeau. Unsurprisingly given the producer’s track record, both the cuts here are impeccably crafted. A-side ‘Untitled II’ is a lovely slow-burner. The groove sits in a sweet spot between dub techno and Running Back-style deep house, with a warm bassline moving in and out of the kicks and hi-hats. As the track progresses, the gradual layering of keys, synths and percussion reaches an effervescent apex that recalls Daphni’s best work. ‘A Familiar Place’, built from thick 909s and a humming bass take, is tougher but no less deft.
