New Sahel Sounds, and it’s even better than we could have imagined. Killer electronic guitar works from southern Algeria that make us think of Les Abranis. No mean feat considering they are up there with the very best! The styles range from uptempo danceable pop jams like ‘Tenere’ (just listen to that shredding / hand percussion fusion). Classic call/response vocal choruses plus a penchant for Tuareg music cement this as one of the best Sahel Sounds we’ve heard in a long time. ‘Tarhanine Tegla’ also wins ballad of the month, hands down. Strongly recommended!
