The Nigerien Tuareg musician Mdou Moctar first reached global recognition around five years ago with two singles on Sahel Sounds. Well respected in his home country, his infectious brand of introspective yet pop-orientated guitar playing seeing him later go on to tour the world. Here he returns with a collection of minimal, heart achingly sensitive folk songs that cut as deep as the Western stylings of Collie Ryan at her most poignant.
