Good news for fans of the French/African disco and funk continuum! The Cameroonian multi-instrumentalist Jo Tongo sees his holy grail status 70s and 80s LP tracks compiled on this great retrospective from Africa Seven. As one of the (relatively few) reissue labels doing things right, Africa Seven have put out killer records from Manu Dibango and Pasteur Lappe in the last year already, but this JT comp is just as worthy of your attention. Tip: Sex Tags fans might recognise ‘Piani’ from the insane Mutuykato Mata on Amfibia 10!
