Fresh off the back of his performance for Glasgow based experimental radio festival Radiophrenia, the ever interesting Felix Kubin drops a new four track LP on Editions Mego. Intense electroacoustic atmospheres that take their cue from instructional films dating 1960-1990. Industrial, mechanical, repetitive and perhaps somewhat critical of our societal structure, ‘The Beat of Work’ employs a three person strong percussion ensemble to help realise Kubin’s sonic vision. Our immediate favourite is ‘Geburt eines Schiffes’ – super cool concrete style sound design with off kilter, synthetic clock chimes throughout. Killer record (at least in our humble opinion).
