Before March 2016 we had never heard of the tropical leanings of the late 80s to mid 90s US robotic ramshackle and bleary-eyed Balearic unit Workdub, yet fast forward to the present day and we have been eagerly awaiting this comp of the groups 'best bits' for quite some time.

The groups music is a mix of space-age disco and kosmiche house that wouldn't sound too out of place on the recent CS + Kreme 12" or something the wonderful Stroom label has dug up. Yet the key to Workdub's repeated listening success is the fact that it relies heavily on the dub aspect and less on the work. Subterranean (1989 - 1995) is a brilliant excavation of a unit that seemingly exists out of time at the time they were active. Not quite acid house yet not totally techno and with sunglasses to sharp for post-punk. Workdub seemed to exist in their own electronically powered world, one that thanks to Music From Memory and now Left Ear we are keen to inhabit. Under the radar reissue of the year anyone?
