Drone records (Death In Vegas, Richard Fearless) present a record of sonic explorations from duo Von Haze. The seven tracks here are meant to engage with different corporeal power centres - ‘Solar Plexus’ for the solar plexus, ‘Third Eye’ for the third eye, you get the idea. Each piece is characterised by murky, slightly hollow-sounding drones, with the recording making it seem like you’re hearing the music being beamed to you from the end of a tunnel. The cuts are slow-moving but rewarding, and the washes of sound serve up some pretty magisterial moments. An album that deserves your focussed engagement.
