UK jazz trio Mammal Hands (comprising saxophonist Jordan Smart, pianist Nick Smart and drummer and percussionist Jesse Barrett) arrive on Gondwana Records with an elegant LP that draws on spiritual jazz, north Indian, folk and classical music. Crystallising 18 months of intensive touring and writing, Shadow Work veers between the contemplative and frenetic. Final track ‘Being Here’ is a particularly poignant moment and makes a fittingly peaceful outro.
