The ever-reliable CPU with another EP of focussed, no-BS dancefloor tackle. Jensen Interceptor’s Carter’s Green Factory is in much the same vein as his 2016 CPU release M. Here we have three tracks of vaguely eerie electro-funk where boinging basslines and thrusting drums dovetail with shape-shifting synths. What is impressive about Carter’s Green Factory is the producer’s ability to consistently refresh the sonic ideas - see how the title track’s wheezing 303 morphs into the chugging backbone of ‘Not Phased’. That said, this is an EP that continues in the fine CPU tradition of knowing what it wants to do and executing it to perfection, and what it wants to do is make bodies move in dark rooms.
