Apron Records (Hanna, John T. Gast) fronts the latest release from LA beatnik Dreams. The four cuts that make up Not Phazed are nicely calibrated mood-house. From a basic starting point of lights-low club music the different tracks take up an impressive array of styles. The title piece and ‘Gut Bounce’ are the sort of chirpy acid-electro one might find on a label like Super Rhythm Trax, while ‘Blue Visions’ turns another 303-groove into comfortable lo-fi house ala Mall Grab/DJ Seinfeld. Things close out with the warm, weightless rave nostalgia of ‘Underground Sky’. Prime fodder from a producer who clearly knows their onions.
