Erased Tapes present the first solo outing from GusGus and Hjaltalin member Hogni Egilsson. Kicking things off with a solemn chamber piece, the Icelandic native moves through sweet downtempo folk, cinematic new age and slow, brooding rhythms. Egilsson’s vocals on ‘Shed Your Skin’ are goosebump inducing, full of emotion and energy that he manages to maintain throughout the rest of the LP. ‘Moon Pitcher’ is another stand out, with weird almost boogie influenced drum patterns and an r&b vocal style. Yet somehow it doesn’t feel out of place side by side with the choral qualities of ‘Andaou’ – it’s a varied album to say the least.
