Fink’s sixth album is another collection of warped folk songs that operate in the same lane as Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Richard Dawson et al. For Resurgam the Cornish singer-songwriter got the producer Flood to run the desk, and the resulting grandeur of the LP befits a studiomaster whose CV includes The Killers and Foals. Singles ‘Cracks Appear’ and ‘Not Everything Was Better in the Past’ are stirring, carefully crafted cuts where the singer’s earthy voice and guitar playing are augmented by washes of electronics.
