Having been previously issued by Space & Time at the back end of 2014, Sneaker Social Club have snapped up Etch’s Chemotaxis EP for a vinyl repressing. The pairing of the label and release make particular sense off the back of SSN’s excellent reissue/remix package of The Brothers Grimm’s early-90s classic ‘Exodus (The Lion Awakens)’. Chemotaxis takes many cues from the golden age of junglism, but Etch’s treatment of the source material has a feel of halcyon-glow nostalgia similar to Special Request’s best work. The title track is a lovely pillow-talk shuffle, while both ‘What Lies Beyond’ and ‘Green Park’ pull off the trick of sounding as weighty as they are deft. Closer ‘Prismatic (Etch Revision)’ is a neat neo-soul/hip-hop/jungle hybrid.
