The second set of remixes from Samuel Rohrer’s Range of Regularity LP consists of two fine versions of the album’s opener ‘Microcosmoism’. Building on that track’s subtle, slinking locked groove, Burnt Friedman and Ricardo Villalobos both offer up cautious, edge-of-the-dancefloor shufflers. Friedman’s piece draws a clearer line to the original, with various drums and synths dancing carefully around one another in a manner that recalls Nicolas Jaar’s early work. On the flip, Villalobos’s near-ten-minute entry is the kind of minimal dub he makes seems so effortless.
