Bleep

Two tuff dubs from the selectors at Sex Tags Amfibia here. The A-side, Kambo Super Sound’s ‘Vanntarnet (Water Tower Dub)’, is an idiosyncratic piece. Flitting between dubtronica, dancehall and reggae, the whole thing is doused in reverb so thick that even King Tubby himself might call it excessive. That said, it actually works to good effect, allowing the horror-flick synth melodies and stuttering chords to dice nicely with the rocksteady riddim. On the flip, Don Papa’s ‘Island Rock (DJ Dub)’ lightens things up considerably. The beat brings some soca stylings into play, and the chirpy harmonies are very pleasing indeed.
