Big things were expected of Croydon MC Rocks FOE when he dropped his four-track EP Legion on Black Acre at the back end of 2015. Two years on and his first LP for the label makes good on the promise of that release. Fight the Good? Fight is the intense and confrontational listen one might expect from the record’s title. The self-produced beats are blaring amalgamations of grime, UK hip-hop and the grainy fug of post-trip-hop of artists like Blue Daisy, and often come peppered with sneaky hooks - check the Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City-styled ‘Rollin’. Rocks himself spits in a booming quicktime that recalls a young, hungry Wiley, and his troubled bars don’t let up for an inch across these eight tracks.
