Izabel continues to navigate dark, intricate sonic territories with this new Million Brazilians album on LFI. Evolving out of a regular radio show, the label began just last year but is already preparing its tenth release, a testament to her clear vision for the project. The Portland based band are hard to define, spanning Leon Thomas esque avant-jazz (‘Geodelphic Empathies’) through to melancholic post-rock soundscapes (‘Red Rose and Obsidian’). The penultimate track washes over you with hypnotic hand percussion and eerie, drifting electronics that make us think of mid-period O Yuki Conjugate. Bonus points for the cool Mati Klarwein artwork!
