Some serious dancefloor tackle here from Apron (Hanna, John T. Gast). SSJJ and Devin Dare each contribute a side, and both are guaranteed winners in the hands of any capable mixmaster. The former flips a sample of Stevie Wonder’s ‘Go Home’ to mesmeric ends. Atop a tuff house shuffle, SSJJ sends Wonder’s original scurrying around the monitors, laying on the effects to create a hypnotic roller. Dare’s offering calls to mind DJJ’s classic ‘Just A Lil’ by taking a few bars of a sample, whacking some big-room drums on it and letting it run from there. It’s immensely satisfying stuff from both parties.
