Ethereal psych outs from half-Norwegian, half-Mexican cosmonaut Carmen Villain (badass name!). Released via Smalltown Supersound, the Oslo label that’s home to the likes of Bjorn Torske and the Idjut Boys so you know you can trust it. Lead track ‘Red Desert’ hits the spot, reverb heavy and plodding slowly along like a donkey with heat stroke. Jenny Hval delivers some mesmerising vocals on ‘Borders’ too. Seems Carmen’s previous records for SS went a little under the radar, so it’s worth checking those out if her spectral pop tunes are your kind of thing.
