Two members of Dan Snaith’s extended circle - Jeremy Greenspan has released via Snaith’s Jiaolong imprint, while Taraval is a touring member of Caribou - join forces for a collaborative EP of off-the-cuff synth workouts. The tracks here were each edited down from extended jams held by the two at Greenspan’s studio in Hamilton, Ontario. The resulting five entries are rough-and-ready dubs that ape Actress and Joy Orbison in skirting the edges of techno. Some of the cuts - ‘Be Last’, for instance - are as tough as they come. That said, the pair’s ear for melody and harmony serves them well on the likes of ‘Daff’, a closer that sounds not dissimilar to Greenspan’s work with Jessy Lanza.
