Bar vague links to label-mates Chromatics and Johnny Jewel, there isn’t much to go on for Italians Do It Better signing Heaven as they drop their first EP. Fortunately, the music here is good enough to do the talking. In true IDIB style, Lonesome Town is a collection of retromanical synth-pop ditties that scream sex, style and seduction. Opening gambits ‘It’s Not Enough’ and ‘Lock & Key’ are class-A pop that would have fitted perfectly into, say, the Drive soundtrack. Subsequently we get the more freeform spoken-word piece ‘Blood on the Tracks’, an instrumental for ‘It’s Not Enough’ and the keys-led Willie Nelson cover from which the EP gets its name.
