The first new Four Tet material in quite some time surfaces and what a scorcher it is! Two Thousand and Seventeen begins with a slow to wake momentum, yet, much like the year it's quite possibly named after, it offers many surprises.

Sitting nicely in-between Four Tet's last long-player, the new age indebted Morning / Evening and the classic '90s ambient techno gear from AFX, the piece starts off with a half time drum break and some mournful strings that quietly builds momentum while the bassline takes hold. The mournful edge that is so central to the track plays well against the melancholic splintering guitar notes, carefully revealing more of the music's inner workings as each second drifts by.

One of the most enjoyable four and a half minutes that Two Thousand and Seventeen has thrown up, rinse and repeat.
