Candela Rising (Lakker, Whirling Hall of Knives) drop a series of collaborations from German-based artist Ancient Methods (Michael Wollenhaupt to his mum). Wollenhaupt enlists a different guest for each of the four tracks here, and the results all bear the imprint of the producer’s techno-industrialism while also being afforded great scope by the wide range of guests. ‘Swallow the Screw’ and ‘It Won’t Take Me’ are powerful, bludgeoning cuts, with the former given a properly psychedelic turn by New York’s Azar Swan. The Zanias-featuring ‘Andromeda’ is similarly trippy, with Wollenhaupt stripping away the drums to allow for a space befitting the track’s cosmic theme, and Huren takes aim at avarice on ‘The Standards Will Come & Go’.
