Following up releases on Proximity Records and Rupture London, nu-skool maestro Outer Heaven offers up four slices of tense, claustrophobic d&b for UVB-76. The tracks on Pathos are characterised by flighty, schizophrenic beat tracking, menacing throbs of sub and creepy loops that will have you looking over your shoulder by the end of each track. Occasionally the EP strays closer to junglism, for instance on opener ‘Outback’, but the overall effect of Pathos is something far more considered and powerful than mere dancefloor fodder.
