Never one to pass up a great groove, FXHE head honcho Omar S nevertheless takes something of a left-turn with this reissue. Here he has spruced up an ultra-rare 1978 disco LP from Singapore’s AJL Band. Though an unexpected move from the label, one spin of Take Me Dancing and the record makes complete sense as a FXHE release. The classy shine to the tracks here is akin to the sun-kissed flex of S’s recent collaborations with Nite Jewel, and there is a muscular soulfulness to the likes of ‘This is No Horse’ and ‘Charter Flight’ that has been in the DNA of his music from the get-go.
