Erased Tapes continue an excellent recent run that has seen them front new work from Daniel Brandt and Penguin Cafe with an EP from Ben Lukas Boysen. Leading with ‘Golden Times 1’, a highlight from the sound designer’s 2016 LP Spells, that track is turned inside-out by fellow German Max Cooper. Where the originals swells from delicate piano ostinatos to an expansive electronic midsection, Cooper’s version reverses sounds and lathers the track in reverb to create a piece that sounds like Sigur Ros given a once-over by Teebs. Elsewhere Tim Hecker turns Spells’ ‘Nocturne 4’ into a glitching dub of strange beauty, and Boysen offers an original in ‘Evensong’.
