The minimal house artist’s first record in six years, out via Foom (Mica Levi, Oliver Coates), is a release of quiet revolutions and rich reward. Tracks like ‘Before What Happened, Happened’, a collaboration with long-time associate Yonatan Levi, are delicate works built on muted drum programming and spindly, whispering melodies. There are echoes of Nicolas Jaar to this record, especially when Liars frontman Angus Andrew gets involved for the murmuring patter of ‘Brighter Than Her Daughter’. One also hears echoes of early Four Tet and mid-period Radiohead in the likes of ‘Hands Reach Up’ as well as the chimes that crop up all over US Drag.
