Black Acre do it yet again with this EP from former Cult Music signee Prayer. His time on Zomby’s label has seen Prayer’s music become steeped in a similar quirky, murky electronica while also carving out his own version of the post-rave sound. Tracks like ‘Alone’ and ‘Decline’ are fidgety dubs that draw from a whole host of genres - jungle, sure, but also Salt ‘n’ Pepa-style hip-hop, trance and trap. The title track is the closest that Prayer comes to classic junglism, though the wash of reverb that colours everything here pulls the beat out of the rave in a manner reminiscent of early Burial. Things close out with the eerie and doom-flecked ‘First Light’.
