Sacred Bones come through with another sick record, this time the second full-length from Texas punks Institute. Anyone familiar with the band’s previous LP Catharsis will know what to expect here. The likes of ‘Exhibitionism’, ‘All This Pride’ and ‘Too Dumb’ are robust hardcore/post-punk workouts evoking the likes of Black Flag and Preoccupations, and Subordination as a whole is a tightly-coiled affair that chomps hard at the bit. That said, the band do find time to incorporate some previously unheard influences into their sound without giving up any of their viscerality - just check the Glitter beat that kicks off hard-rockin’ closer ‘Powerstation’.
