Optimo press up the alternate mix of the Coil classic A Cold Cell, remixed exclusively by Peter Christoperson for the Domino released Optimo (Espacio) Sleepwalk mix CD (a compilation very worthy of your time) back in 2008 and fittingly renamed A Cold Cell in Bangkok. Arriving in the present day via a 1-sided 12" with a silk screened image on the other side lovingly designed by Lindsay Todd, the remarkable and acclaimed Scottish artist and runner of the Firecracker, Sacred Summits, Shevchenko and Unthank record labels.

Marking the third version of A Cold Cell to be recommitted to wax in recent times (the other being the New Backwards and Ape Of Naples versions), Sleazy's reworking finds the original perfectly placed between the minimalist cry of the Ape... version and the MDMA burn out that haunts The New Backwards transcript. A mutant techno backbone with almost trance like pads carries a dare we say it uplifting feeling to John Balance's tortured words. The cherry on the cake is the digitized guitar notes that shimmer in the background like some sort of industrial mirage of warmth. An exceptional version that has long been a favourite of ours and many others alike.

"This record is dedicated to the memories of Jhonn Balance and Peter Christoperson whose music has brought so much joy and light into my life" JD Twitch, May 2017.
