Spiral Deluxe - the techno-jazz group spearheaded by Jeff Mills and numbering Underground Resistance’s Gerald Mitchell on keys - release an LP of live recordings. Tathata was captured at shows in Naples and Paris, and if the three tracks here are anything to go by then they were some gigs. Sitting in a sweet-spot between the Detroit sound that Mills and Mitchell helped to forge, Moodymann’s jazzy deep house and the fusion experiments of groups like Weather Report, Spiral Deluxe create a sound here that is at once classic and fresh.
