Jimmy Edgar’s delightful Ultramajic imprint (Truncate, L-Vis 1990) offers up the full-length sequel to Keeno18’s 2016 EP Channel 18. The album makes good on the neon sheen of both that EP and the Ultramajic aesthetic as a whole. Many of the tracks here combine an obvious fetish for the golden ages of Detroit and Chicago with an equally futurist bent that brings to mind Jam City’s Classical Curves. Bouncing, effervescent takes like ‘Anize’ and ‘Ghana Gate’ will throw down the gauntlet to anything within fifty feet of it in a DJ set. Elsewhere Keeno18 goes full KiNK on wacky synth rollers such as ‘Slide Look Like’.
