Mike Dehnert’s Fachwerk imprint (Roman Lindau, Sascha Rydell) celebrates its tenth birthday with an LP from the label founder himself. Forged in the clubs of Berlin, Providing Home is an album that knows its history well yet isn’t afraid to veer off down intriguing new paths. Songs like ‘Want Be’ and the two title tracks have no agenda other than to work the dancefloor, full of pummelling drum tracks and squidging synths, while the Albert Vogt-featuring ‘Between No Words’ is a soulful banger in the vein of Lovebirds’ ‘Want You In My Soul’. Things get particularly interesting on tracks like ‘Up’, a heavily-swung slice of dub techno.
