Three years ago Karaoke Kalk released the debut album by Le Rok, fittingly named 'Hausarbeiten' (meaning indoor works). It was a choice collection of home recordings which were produced over six long years and resulted in an album of varied themes but a strong stylistic connection. Both Le Rok and his songs needed to take their time. Now, three years later, enough new tracks have coalesced to form 'Approx Twelve', a tasty collection of all over-the-shop housey compositions that twitch with rhythmic and melodic inflections and sound like they're just about holding themselves together. It's all microedits, fiddly tricks with time signatures and snakey bouncing basslines making for an unusual, pleasant and lively listen.
