Minimal donny-don Robert Hood is an apt choice for Dekmantel’s fiftieth release. The former Underground Resistance hellraiser’s first album in a half-decade goes a long way to demonstrating why he’s something of a byeword for excellence in techno. Following a brief atmospheric intro track, everything that follows on Paradym Shift is hard and rugged. It recalls his classic Minimal Nation in the way each track gets the groove by the throat early and refuses to let go for the duration. As Dekmantel celebrates its tenth birthday this year, who better to join the fold than an artist who continues to prove his excellence as he nears thirty years in the game.
