The third offering from Bristol’s Ceramics yokes together tracks by the two artists they have previously released (Mhah Mos and Joane Skyler) with eight additional cuts to throw down the gauntlet for the label’s sound. There is a distinct edge-of-the-dancefloor and end-of-the-rave vibe to many of the tracks here. OMAAR’s ‘Aroma’, for instance, sounds like a classic jungle track that’s been given a makeover by DJ Screw, with a dreamy chord progression and hazed jazz drum sample that could send you codeine crazy. The rest of the tracks run across the spectrum of almost-club (the skittish breakbeat of Filter Dread’s ‘Tribal Cyborg) to probably-not-club (Filter Frequencies’s ‘Something Waiting Just Beyond’, a beautiful and ethereal whirl of synthesised strings and woodwind).
