Soraya Lutangu's second EP – a heavyweight six-tracker – comes by way of New York's PTP (formerly Purple Tape Pedigree). Opening track 'Supremacy' hits you head on, taking samples from Sister Souljah's 'Listening to America' speech and interjecting them with post-apocalyptic walls of sound. "I don't make my work for you to interpret it," Souljah goes. "I make it for black young people so that they can understand that we have to be strong-minded and we have to be productive, and be unafraid of expressing ourselves and getting what we want in this society. I make it for black young people so that they can understand that we are at war. I think that black people have been neglected." The rest of the EP is equally as assertive and fragmented, switching from warmth to pent-up anger and violence. A collage of samples and musical references, pounding drums and city sounds, it explores both the richness of culture and the racism that Lutangu experienced first-hand growing up in Switzerland.
