The Beacon Sound Choir turn in a spellbinding album of softly spun ethereal ambience with their Sunday Songs, seven tracks of slow forming harmonies that call to mind everyone from Arvo Pärt, William Basinski, Nils Frahm and the quieter reflections of Arthur Russell.

Conceived by Peter Broderick and utilising the vocal harmonies of a 35 strong choir, The Beacon Sound Choir was assembled with the idea to bring together people to join in regardless of their vocal capabilities or musical experience. The end result transcends any religious undercurrents by pouring out some truly wonderful sounds where each second is pinned down by a wonderful Americana undercurrent. Nestling inbetween the tracks are snapshots of the gaps in-between, the quiet moments when the choir broke away to communicate to each other, interrupting the meditative flow for a breather before diving back in.

Coming paired with an extensive crystallised rework by Machinefabriek, Sunday Songs is honestly one of the most absorbing albums you are gonna encounter anytime soon.
