Dog Heart City finds Roger Robinson and Disrupt toking a rather sticky substance while wandering through the concrete urban jungle of their Dog Heart City, giving nod to the streets while unravelling their tales of low-end dub poetry. What makes Dog Heart City such a stand out entity is how it carries a much-needed and often left out by most politically charged current that is used to express the alienation and daily back and forths of the mundane urban living that most of us find ourselves trapped within.

Described best by the group: “Nightshift” tells about the workers who clean the buildings where power is held, and the contrast between their lives and where they clean. “Flowers” comments on the rate of young black men getting killed, where another victim dies even before the last mourning flowers have dried. There are stories about tower block life, the claiming of a postcode or how the city wears a Swastika-like a proud badge in Post-Brexit UK.

From start to finish Dog Heart City transports feelings of hope within heavy times and in doing so stands tall as a sort of modern Cry Tuff Dub Encounter session, set within the streets of England.
