Apollo Records lovingly gather together the early releases of bass scene veteran Synkro. Memories maps the formative works of one of the stalwarts of UK club culture in the 2010s, and as such acts as a microcosm of the changes in the scene over the past decade. Tracks in the vein of ‘Here’s Your’ and ‘Look at Yourself’ throw the listener back to the early days of Mount Kimbie and James Blake, all lurching 140-bpm grooves and fuzzy sine-wave synths. Other efforts - ‘In Transit’ for instance - evince the man born Joe McBride’s love for jungle and d&b, and entries like ‘Just to See Her’ shed new light on Burial’s early stuff.
